Czech Republic Extra Giving Opportunities
Evangelical Church Of Czech Brethren
Diakonie
(Health)
The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren established Diakonie on June 1, 1989 as an organization to care for persons with special needs. After a gap of 40 years (during the communist era) the church is again involved in service to others. The Diakonia represents the outstretched arm of the church, reaching out to society, to respond to its needs. The Diakonie currently manages 32 centers that provide a variety of services to help children with special needs, the elderly and those in various forms of crisis.
Hospice
(Health)
In the Czech Republic, the needs of the dying often go unmet, and even unrecognized. The Diaconia (the social-service arm of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren) is creating a hospice facility that will provide direct care to the terminally ill and respite care to their family caregivers. It will also serve as a much-needed (first of its kind) training center for health care workers from around the country.
The Protestant Theological Faculty; Charles University
(Mission)
Since the overthrow of the communist regime in 1989, increasing numbers of laity are seeking theological education along with those preparing for various professions in central Europe. The Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University is an interdenominational, ecumenically open theological school. Funds will aid the seminary in training new ministers for service in the region.
PCUSA
Czech Mission Network
(Development)
The General Assembly Council officially approved the formation of a Czech Working Group (CWG) in September 1995.
The CWG became the Czech Mission Network(CzMN) in 2004 and works closely with the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren to improve and expand the relationships between our two churches and to enhance our mutual work of evangelism and sharing in the body of Christ. Gifts will under gird CzMN program expenses.
